Musical by Howard Goodall based on a book by Howard Goodall, Richard Curtis and John Retallack from an original idea by Mary Lee Settle.
The Coliseum Oldham
Set on an Airforce base in 1941 during the Second World War, Girlfriends tells the story of a group women in the WAAF (Women's Auxiliary Air Force)
Following its successful run at Oldham, a heavily revised version of Girlfriends (in a recast production which did not include Maria Friedman) opened at the Playhouse Theatre in London's West End on 16 October 1987 but it received poor notices and subsequently closed after barely five weeks on 21 November 1987.
