Maria on Oklahoma!
"Oklahoma! was the first big musical I did and again it was coincidence that helped me. My boyfriend [Roland Brine] and I went to an audition and they really wanted him. He persuaded them to take me on as well. I only got a very little part, but then I proved myself and after some time I ended up playing the leading role." [read full interview]

Notes
This production was produced by Cameron Mackintosh and Emile Littler in association with The Haymarket Theatre, Leicester with financial support from The Arts Council of Great Britain.
This production marked both Maria's professional debut and her West End debut. She understudied and played the roles of 'Ado Annie' and 'Laurey'.
During the run of Oklahoma! the cast and crew staged a charity performance of Minnie's Boys at the New London Theatre.
While Maria was only in the chorus of this production which starred John Diedrich, nearly twenty years later she would be playing opposite him in the West End revival of Chicago.
Cast Recording
The cast recording was recorded live at the Palace Theatre by The Mobile One Recording Unit.
The Recording Engineer was BARRY AINSWORTH, it was Produced for records by ROBERT CHARLES ANDREWS and the Executive Producers was John Yap. The Musicals Collection released was remastered by JOHN YAP.
The original cast recording (top) was released under 'The Musicals Collection' name (bottom) without the 'Lonely Room' and 'Finale' tracks.
